Welcome to Stuttgart, Germany and the 2023 PONY 18U European Championships. I would like to extend my warmest regards and greetings to everyone attending these important championships. The relationship between PONY Baseball and Softball, Stuttgart, Germany, and the PONY European Zone is a very traditional and time honored one. Thank you to Stuttgart for rolling out the red carpet for the players, family, friends, and fans again in 2023.
It has been a challenging three years with the worldwide pandemic for our international member organizations and events. The 2023 season has resumed with some sense of normalcy. The 18U Palomino World Series is back to eight teams with full international competition for the first time since 2019. This is great news.
It is a distinct pleasure and an honor to recognize the players who will battle it out over the next few days to be crowned the champions of Europe. Stuttgart baseball has been and continues to be an inspiration to hundreds of young baseball players throughout Germany.
The game of baseball is truly a game that knows no cultural or socio-economic boundaries. Baseball is played in over 130 countries throughout the world and continues to grow. PONY Baseball and Softball and Stuttgart baseball continue to work together to provide as many youths the opportunity to learn the game of baseball as possible. Our thanks to our leaders of Stuttgart baseball for their vision and leadership in developing the championships.
Many have played a role in the development of PONY Baseball in Stuttgart, but our special thanks to Tournament Chairman Andre Fink. Thank you, Andre, and your committee, for proving the facilities, tournament management and believing in the positive impact on the young lives participating. Through their exposure to the game of baseball, the participants learn valuable lessons in leadership that will allow them to become more productive citizens in the future, making our world a better place to live.
We welcome everyone to sit back and relax as the PONY European Championship unfolds on the field. Only two teams will eventually play in the championship game, but each player on each team is already a champion. Good luck to all the players.
This year marks PONY Baseball’s 71st anniversary. We want to extend our thanks to our players, coaches, fans and friends for 71 great years of providing baseball and softball throughout the world, but more importantly for many years of friendship with Stuttgart baseball.

Ich möchte allen, die an diesen wichtigen Meisterschaften teilnehmen, meine herzlichsten Grüße und Wünsche übermitteln. Die Beziehung zwischen PONY Baseball und Softball, Stuttgart, Deutschland, und der PONY European Zone ist eine sehr traditionelle und altehrwürdige Beziehung. Vielen Dank an Stuttgart, dass sie auch 2023 wieder den roten Teppich für die Spielerinnen, Familien, Freunde und Fans ausrollen.
Die weltweite Pandemie hat unseren internationalen Mitgliedsorganisationen und Veranstaltungen drei schwierige Jahre beschert. Die Saison 2023 ist mit einem gewissen Maß an Normalität wieder aufgenommen worden. Die 18U Palomino World Series besteht erstmals seit 2019 wieder aus zehn Teams mit einem vollständigen internationalen Wettbewerb. Das sind großartige Neuigkeiten.
Es ist mir eine besondere Freude und Ehre, die Spieler auszuzeichnen, die in den nächsten Tagen um den Titel des Europameisters kämpfen werden. Der Stuttgarter Baseball war und ist eine Inspiration für Hunderte von jungen Baseballspielern in ganz Deutschland.
Baseball ist wirklich ein Spiel, das keine kulturellen oder sozioökonomischen Grenzen kennt. Baseball wird in über 130 Ländern der Welt gespielt und wächst weiter. PONY Baseball und Softball und Stuttgart Baseball arbeiten weiterhin zusammen, um so vielen Jugendlichen wie möglich die Möglichkeit zu geben, das Baseballspiel zu erlernen. Unser Dank gilt den Verantwortlichen des Stuttgarter Baseballs für ihre Vision und Führung bei der Entwicklung der Meisterschaften.
Viele haben eine Rolle bei der Entwicklung von PONY Baseball in Stuttgart gespielt, aber unser besonderer Dank gilt dem Turniervorsitzenden Andre Fink. Danke, Andre, und deinem Komitee für die Bereitstellung der Einrichtungen, die Turnierleitung und den Glauben an die positiven Auswirkungen auf das Leben der teilnehmenden Jugendlichen. Durch den Kontakt mit dem Baseballspiel lernen die Teilnehmer wertvolle Lektionen in Sachen Führung, die es ihnen ermöglichen, in Zukunft produktivere Bürger zu werden und unsere Welt zu einem besseren Ort zu machen.
Wir laden alle ein, sich zurückzulehnen und zu entspannen, während sich die PONY-Europameisterschaft auf dem Spielfeld entfaltet. Nur zwei Mannschaften werden am Ende das Meisterschaftsspiel bestreiten, aber jeder Spieler in jeder Mannschaft ist bereits ein Champion. Viel Glück für alle Spieler.
Dieses Jahr feiert PONY Baseball sein 71-jähriges Bestehen. Wir möchten uns bei unseren Spielern, Trainern, Fans und Freunden für 71 großartige Jahre Baseball und Softball in der ganzen Welt bedanken, aber vor allem für viele Jahre der Freundschaft mit dem Stuttgarter Baseball.
