190501 Pad NSW 0085

Equally as impressive offensively as their countrymen from Stuttgart, the Paderborn Untouchables routed the North State Warriors 15-1 in game two. Paderborn exploded for nine runs in the top of the first inning, as it took advantage of three North State errors, while collecting seven hits. Merlin Bendlin led off the game with a double and Zan Primozic followed his hit up with a triple, which sparked the offense. Both hitters finished the game an impressive 7-for-7 with six runs scored and seven RBI, while Bendlin hit a home run.

Yannic Walther also was 3-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBI. The Warriors scored their only run in the bottom of the fourth, when Alys von Loenen singled, scoring Bas Houtkamp from second. It was a solid pitching performance for Luca Kloppenburg, who tossed the game’s final four innings, after Landislaus Landwehr opened the game and struck out two in an inning’s work.

Kloppenburg allowed just one run on three hits and two walks, while striking out eight for the win. Paderborn takes on the Swiss National Team at 2:30 p.m. in its next game tomorrow, while North State hopes to get on track, when it faces Netherlands United at 8:30 a.m. local time Stuttgart.
