180428 Swiss BRA 0097A four-run bottom of the sixth inning when it was just a 3-2 game changed the game for the Swiss National Team, earning the team its second win of the tournament 7-2 over Brabant United. Livio Bundi shined on the mound for the Swiss, as he tossed a complete game, allowing two runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk, while striking out 10 on the afternoon.

Bundi retired the first nine-consecutive batters he faced, before, in the bottom of the third inning, he broke open the scoring with an RBI single to center field. The lead would be short-lived when Brabant United finally struck back with two runs of its own in the top of the fourth. With two runners in scoring position and one out, Ties Olijslagers and Tjeerd Hessels recorded back-to-back RBI singles to center field, before Bundi struck out the final two batters he faced.

In the bottom of the fourth, Jonah Schaller reached on an error to start the inning and advanced to second for the Swiss. He was moved over to third, after a groundout and pinch hitter Aron Augsburger drove in Schaller on a single to left field, evening the game at 2-2.

The Swiss took another lead in the bottom of the fifth, when, with two outs and Bundi on second, Schaller reached on an error that allowed Bundi to score (3-2), but they took all of the game’s momentum in the bottom of the sixth.

Back-to-back walks by Nicholas Fischer and Nik Diener set the table for Sven Ambhl to knock Fischer home and advance Diener to third. Michael Diaz Pino followed suit with an RBI single of his own, scoring Diener and moving Ambhl 90 feet. Bundi reached on an error on a fly ball to right field, scoring Ambhl and advancing Pino all the way to third. Later in the inning, Pino scored on a wild pitch, completing the scoring for the Swiss with a 7-2 lead that proved to be the final.

Fischer, Ambhl and Bundi each recorded three hits for the Swiss National Team, who is now 2-0, after two days of play at the Palomino European Zone Championships
